Did you know about Liverpool’s overhead railway which was the first in the world?

The Liverpool electrically operated overhead railway was revolutionary for its time. At its peak it had 17 stations. Originally it ran from Herculaneum Dock (south) to Alexandra Dock (north). It was later extended to Seaforth & Litherland, with connections to the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. Small fragments of pillars and foundations can still be found in places along the former route.
